From 6 April, the minimum pension age was uplifted to age 55, hitting more than four million people who were born between 6 April nineteen fifty five and the fifth April 1960 who will unfortunately have to hold back for up to five yr to get their pension.</p>
<p>The state pension age for adult females also started to rise from the sixth April until it reaches 65 in 2020. By thousand and twenty six , it is set to rise to sixty six for every person, until it in the end reaches sixty eight in 2046.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">BCB Environmental Management Limited, of <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Marston</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Business</st1:placename>  <st1:placetype w:st="on">Park</st1:placetype></st1:place>, Tockwith, pleaded guilty of violating Regulations 6 and 7 of the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR). The company was dealing with<a href="http://www.hse.gov.uk/fireandexplosion/index.htm"> dangerous chemicals </a>near exposed electrical circuits and forklifts.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The violations were discovered when a combined enquiry was undertaken by North Yorkshire Police and the HSE following an act of arson against the company in October 2008, committed by a former employee. The arsonist had been easily able to start the fire because he had access to the drums.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The HSE inspectors further saw that dangerous machinery was in operation without a vital safety guard that amounted to violation of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998. The absence of this crucial safety guard was extremely dangerous for the people handling the machine It would also not have been possible to stop the machine instantly in case of an accident as the safety stop switch was covered with so much filth that it could not be recognised.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Harrogate Magistrates Court held the company guilty of also violating Regulation 11 of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and ordered it to give &#163;6,110 as costs in addition to the &#163;40,000 fine.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The Government has published a response accepting most of the recommendations proposed by the Rita Donaghy&#8217;s Report. Announcing this, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Yvette Cooper has thanked Rita Donaghy and her team for their collective efforts and single minded focus to bring <a href="http://www.hse.gov.uk/construction/">safety and quality standards</a> in the construction industry. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">She has also expressed confidence that the cooperation of trade unions, construction workers and the business organisations would go a long way in enforcing strict quality standards before construction begins. The detailed investigation commissioned has resulted in plugging many loopholes and finding quality measures to prevent accident related deaths. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Out of the 28 recommendations that Rita Donaghy has put forth, 23 recommendations have been accepted without constraints. The suggestions of bringing the construction industry under the purview of the Gangmasters Act and of increasing the legal duties of the directors of companies are still under scrutiny and may require additional information before any action is initiated, says the government. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The accepted recommendations include training and competence, support of common minimum standards, acknowledgement of responsibility by public safety representatives, mutual recognition between pre-qualification schemes and support for greater worker participation. Also included are recommendations for building control, the legal system and public procurement. </p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Department for Work and Pensions initiated this enquiry to check what other measures could be put in place for to reduce the number of deaths and mishaps in the construction sector. </p>
